Information about The Moving Wall Vietnam Veterans Memorial Visit

The Moving Wall is:

- A half-size replica of the original Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

- Engraved with the names of 58,318 men and women killed in Vietnam

- A place to remember and reflect

- Free and open 24-hours

- The Wall will be open to visitors from noon on Thursday, Aug. 8 to noon on Monday, Aug. 12

 

THURSDAY, AUG. 8:

- Witness/participate in the escort of The Moving Wall to Ford Athletic Field (arrival at approximately 11 a.m.), with Wall set-up immediately following. The escort leaves Greenmead at 10 a.m. Bikers wishing to participate can plan to arrive as early as 8 a.m. The escort will leave promptly at 10 a.m. The route is: south on Newburgh to east on Seven Mile to south on Merriman to west on Five Mile to south on Farmington to west on Lyndon.

- The Wall should be ready for viewing by 1 p.m.

- Opening Ceremony at 6 p.m.

FRIDAY, AUG. 9:

- Visit The Moving Wall Vietnam Veterans Memorial, military encampments, mobile military museum, Eyes of Freedom exhibit and more.

- POW/MIA Ceremony begins at 6 p.m.;

- Bob Hope USO Show at Stymelski Park from 7:30-10 p.m. Bring a lawn or camp chair. Limited seating in folding chairs or bleachers will be available

SATURDAY, AUG. 10:

- Visit The Moving Wall Vietnam Veterans Memorial, military encampments, mobile military museum, Eyes of Freedom exhibit and more.

- Patriotic music by a group of Livonia Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet

- First Responders ceremony at 12 p.m. noon;

- Women in the Military Ceremony at 6 p.m.

- Bob Hope USO Show at Stymelski Park from 7:30-10 p.m. Bring a lawn or camp chair. Limited seating in folding chairs or bleachers will be available

SUNDAY, AUG. 11:

- Visit The Moving Wall Vietnam Veterans Memorial, military encampments, mobile military museum, Eyes of Freedom exhibit and more.

- Patriotic Worship Service with a mass choir at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug 11, at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (just south of Ford Field). The Rev. Dr. Richard Wolfram, retired Air Force chaplain, will give the message and all veterans will be recognized.

- Music by the Livonia Youth Symphony Orchestra

- Closing Ceremony at 6 p.m.

MONDAY, AUG. 12:

- The Wall closes at noon
