The New Centurion Graduate Scholar Program, ‘Conserving Liberty’ will be launched this Thursday, January 20th at 8 p.m. and focuses on cornerstone works which shaped the foundation of modern conservative thought: The Roots of American Order by Russell Kirk and Friedrich von Hayek’s The Constitution of Liberty and The Road to Serfdom. Although they made a profound influence on conservative leaders like Ronald Reagan, the depth and breadth of Kirk and von Hayek’s works are not easily mastered, nor are their complementary but different and sometimes opposing ideas and principles easily understood or reconciled.
Gleaves Whitney, the Director of Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies at Grand Valley State University and the first Fellow of the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal will present the first of eight lectures (all of which are free to the participant) and will be broadcast live on U-Stream Interactive at this link on January 20th at 8 p.m. eastern standard time: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-new-centurion-channel
