Let Us Remember

It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.


It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.


It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
who has given us the right to vote.

It is the
VETERAN who
salutes the Flag

and who serves
under the Flag.

Let us remember, today and every day, the brave soldiers fallen and among us, past and present, at home and over seas, who have given so much and risked all to keep us free. Let us seek ways to pay homage, bring comfort, and say thank you to these wonderful warriors.

Let us not squander the precious gift that they have given us. Let us take inspiration from them to fight the political battles that need to be waged to keep liberty alive. Let us find the courage and determination that they so gallantly have displayed so that we can defeat the domestic tyrants before us as they have vanquished our enemies abroad.
