Let's Boot Them All

Here is the email I sent today:

Dear Representative Upton,
Dear Senator Levin,
Dear Senator Stabenow,

It is time to reboot Congress in 2010! I am writing to inform you that I am part of a grassroots campaign working so that as of the 3rd of January, 2011 you will no longer be serving in the House of Representatives of the United States of America. We are planning to vote against all incumbents in Congress in 2010. I am also sending a copy of this to our U.S. Senators. They will get the same treatment when they are up for re-election.

We the people now understand that we have been repeating the same mistake in the voting booth over and over again for decades. In June of 2008, nearly 80% of us disapproved of Congress and in November of 2008 we re-elected 94% of you. Duh... But we finally get it. When we vote for the lesser of two evils we still get evil. When we vote for the devil we know vs. the devil we don’t know, we still get devils. Myself and others who are sending this letter to our congressmen may not feel that our particular congressman is either evil or a devil. We are a respectful group of solid American citizens. But the current ambitious, activist, know-it-all government we elected in 2008 – of which you are a part – FRIGHTENS us.

We are going to vote against congress – period, no exceptions. If you want to represent us, try again in 2012. We are letting you go without prejudice. In the meantime, get a job in the real world, talk to your neighbors and co-workers to find out what we think, study the constitution and the founding fathers so you know what the oath of office really means, and then try to convince us that you are the virtuous public servant our founders told us was necessary if we were to have any chance of holding on to our liberty.

We know you will not read the first few of these letters. More of them will be coming. By the time November 2010 rolls around, I am confident you will know it by heart.

This is exactly what the Tea Party of Southwest Michigan is about. One at a time, they all must go; we are starting with our representative by organizing the congressional district.

I dashed off my own letter to Levin and Stabenow today. I used a few lines from your letter to show a relationship.
My representative is Thad McCotter so I left him out of it. He supports our cause.
I write letters for submissions to editorial and opinion sections and it generally gets published in the Westland Observer in Thursdays edition. I have also have had them published in the Detroit News, Free Press, Flint Journal and a few other local papers. I will add a them here from time to time.
