Should Conservatives sit out another election to send a message to the GOPestablishment that 'you cannot take our votes for granted' or can we never afford to do that again and lose elections like McCain/Romney did because of it?!?!? Many people have said the time to Fight/argue is during the Primary/Convention and then must come together, unify to STOP ultra-Liberal Progressive Socialists from winning any positions and giving them control of Legislative bodies, in November! What of those folks who are constantly saying 'there is no-one worth voting for?' Is it time to tell them to get off their hindside and expend their energy/time/money running for an/any Office, since they are the only one Perfect enough to do so?!?! Unless you are 'perfect' you have probably changed your mind on something at some point in your life and therefore do NOT even agree with yourself 100% of the time!

GOP warned: Conservatives ready to revolt

'There's a feeling the party isn't fighting hard enough against  liberalism'

Former Republican presidential candidate Gary Bauer says conservatives are  tired of being marginalized and taken for granted within the GOP and the party  needs to prepare for more Election Day disappointments if it doesn’t produce  candidates the base can enthusiastically support.

Bauer sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2000. He previously  served as chief domestic policy adviser to President Ronald Reagan and is now  president of American Values and chairman of the Campaign for Working Families  PAC.

In a Sunday Washington Post story highlighting the agitation of social  conservatives toward GOP leaders, Bauer described the difference between the two  groups as a “chasm.” He said that divide is felt by far more than the values  voters.

“The chasm is not only between the Republican Party establishment and social  conservatives but the party establishment and conservatives generally,” Bauer  said. “I’m talking almost daily with economic conservatives, conservatives that  believe in a strong national defense, those that are pro-life and pro-family.  There’s a general feeling that the party just isn’t fighting hard enough against  liberalism here in Washington and seems too uncertain with the message and with  the themes that the party says it cares about.”

According to Bauer, conservatives are not only looking for proud defenders of  the unborn and traditional marriage but Republicans committed to smaller  government, less regulation and other kitchen-table issues. He said far too many  in the GOP are more interested in racing to the middle than standing firmly on  conservative principles.

“On all these issues, all too often, party officials who have been around for  awhile tend to muddle the differences between them and the Democratic Party,” he  said.

Disgusted Conservatives Vow To Sit Out Gov’s Race; Some May Vote Schauer, Others Wait To Decide

Story by Craig Maugers, MIRS

Isabelle TERRY, of Rockford, is a member of the Republican state committee. And she’s been a dedicated volunteer for GOP causes. But after a bitter race for lieutenant governor between conservatives and the so-called “establishment,” Terry says she won’t vote for Gov. Rick SNYDER on Nov. 4.

And she’s not the only conservative who feels that way.

MIRS interviewed nine conservative activists from across Michigan today, and most of them said they either hadn’t decided whether they would vote for Snyder or they said they definitely would not vote for Snyder.

Some are even leaving the door open to voting for Democratic candidate Mark SCHAUER, a former member of the U.S. House. It’s not because they like Schauer but because they believe pairing Schauer with a Republican-controlled Legislature would lead to gridlock and would halt any progressive policies from advancing.

“I have not decided whether I will cast a vote for a Democrat,” as Terry said today of possibly voting for Schauer. “That would be my first time in my entire life. And I’ve been voting since I was 18.”

But she added, “I don’t think Schauer will be any worse than Snyder.”

Conservatives still voiced frustration with their top-of-the-ticket candidate today — two days after their preferred candidate for lieutenant governor, Wes NAKAGIRI, came up short in his bid to unseat Snyder’s preferred running mate and the current lieutenant governor, Brian CALLEY.

Snyder supporters saw Calley’s win as a major victory for the Governor’s re-election bid. But the campaign to protect Calley has spurned some conservatives, who were already angry with Snyder over his support of Medicaid expansion, Common Core education standards and fee increases to boost transportation funding.

The conservatives wanted to add Nakagiri to the ticket as a way to add a conservative voice. But now that their attempt failed, they have to decide whether to support Snyder and Calley or withhold their support in protest.

“That seems to be the question of the day,” said Deb  O’HAGAN, of West Bloomfield, who co-founded the Lakes Area Tea Party.

The conservative base of the party will continue to promote the Republican platform, O’Hagan said, but whether the base supports Snyder in November will depend on the actions the Governor takes between now and then.

In the mean time, the base will get behind more like-minded candidates, O’Hagan, like U.S. Senate candidate Terri Lynn LAND, Secretary of State Ruth JOHNSON and Attorney General Bill SCHUETTE.

O’Hagan said she’s heard the talk of conservatives voting for Schauer or sitting out the gubernatorial race in protest.

“Do I agree with it?” O’Hagan asked. “I think that’s a big risk.”

Among conservative activists today, there was talk of a group of pro-Schauer Republicans forming and of trying to get Snyder to sign some type of contract with the grassroots wing of the party.
Norm HUGHES, a conservative activist from Oakland County, said many conservatives are still very upset after what he called a “brutal” primary that saw “establishment” candidates facing off against Tea Party-backed candidates in numerous races across the state.

Hughes said he hasn’t made up his mind yet on how he’ll vote. While he doesn’t personally dislike Snyder or Calley, Hughes said his decision is about policy.

Will Snyder move further toward a state-base health care exchange? He asked. Will the Legislature and Snyder put in place civil rights protections for the LGBT community? He added.
The question will be how Snyder’s campaign progresses, Hughes said. If Snyder moves to the left for the general election, he may lose votes on the right, Hughes said.

One of the votes he’s already lost is that of conservative David DUDENHOEFER, of Detroit.
Conservatives are “disgusted,” Dudenhoefer said, by Snyder’s support of Common Core, Medicaid expansion and tax increases. The level of frustration is enough to be a problem, Dudenhoefer said.

“If you cannot rally your base behind you, how do you expect to win in the general election,” he said.
On the other side of the state, Mark PETZOLD, of Grand Rapids, president of the River City Tea Party, said he thinks some conservatives will support Snyder while others will sit the race out.
As someone who wants to preserve the right to life, liberty and property, Petzold said he can’t “in good conscience” vote for Snyder. But he won’t vote for Schauer either, he said.

Bill GAVETTE, of the Lapeer County Tea Party Patriots, said he’s hasn’t made up his mind.
“I’m waiting to see what the tone of the Legislature is, but especially what is the tone of the Governor,” Gavette said.

Snyder has to give conservatives a reason to support him, Gavette added.

Jason GILLMAN, a conservative blogger on the website RightMI.com, said he thinks it would have been wise for Snyder’s campaign to let Tea Party-types have some input.

“This was essentially the peace offering to the Snyder camp,” Gillman, of Grand Traverse County, said of Nakagiri. “The bottom line is we recognize the limited effect that the lieutenant governor has.”

The conservative base is more solidly behind Land and Johnson, Gillman said.

But while conservatives consider the idea of voting for Schauer, Gillman ruled out the idea for himself, noting Schauer’s past campaign finance violations.

In Ingham County, Joan FABIANO, of Grassroots Michigan, said she made up her mind before this weekend’s convention. She didn’t vote for Snyder in 2010 and won’t in 2014 either.

“They’ll support donate and work for limited-government candidates,” Fabiano said of conservatives. “Since Gov. Snyder has shown that he’s not in that camp, I think a lot of people will not vote for him.”
Fabiano successfully ran for precinct delegate this summer. But she was denied a chance to be a delegate at the state convention. She challenged the fact that some non-elected precinct delegates got the state convention slots, but her challenge was rejected.

Some of the tactics used before the convention have alienated the grassroots, Fabiano said. And Fabiano said she’s been open about the fact that she’s not voting for Snyder.

“I don’t even think I have to encourage people,” she said. “I think a lot of people are already there.”
But Gene CLEM, of the Southwest Michigan Tea Party, saw the situation differently when asked today.

While some of the louder conservatives won’t vote for Snyder, the majority will.

Clem compared it to playing high school football. During the week the players are in competition with one another, like they were at the convention, but on Friday night, the team joins together as a united force.

If Republicans help elect Schauer, Clem said, they risk some progressive Republicans in the Legislature joining with Democrats to advance Schauer’s policies.

Terry doesn’t see it that way.

If former Gov. Jennifer GRANHOLM would have been in office the last few years, Terry argued, Republicans would have stuck to the party’s platform and fought Medicaid expansion and Common Core.

Terry said she views a vote for Schauer as a vote for gridlock.

As she said, “I think gridlock is the way to go.”

Why you MUST vote for Rick Snyder for Michigan's Governor

This is for folks who still haven't figured out all the issues and complete scope of why Michigan must always keep a REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR:

People on our side sometimes lose their senses and fail to recognize how/where Government actually works! It is the Governor who appoints people to run the Departments (the throttle) of Government and WE CANNOT ALLOW A DUMBOCRAT TO BE ELECTED AND PUT LIBERAL ACTIVISTS IN CHARGE OF HOW/WHERE GOVERNMENT IS ACTUALLY RUN! While the Legislature and Governor may pass a Budget, it is left to the Dept Heads who actually determine how/where the money is spent once it gets to their Dept. Governor appoints to various Committees and Commissions whom also; behind the scenes, and regardless of who controls the Legislature; runs the actual Government!

Additionally....
People on our side MUST vote for Snyder because what if a Supreme Court position comes available
over the next four years. We MUST have a Republican Governor to appoint a RULE OF LAW Justice to the Bench. What if, unlikely, but what it, something happens to one of our US Senators. We MUST have a Republican Governor to appoint the person to temporarily finish that Senators tenure!!! We cannot allow a DUMBocrat Governor to be in place to make those picks! It's NOT just Supreme Court Justices, countless openings in Judgeships open up throughout a State that the Governor can than appoint to - we simply cannot concede the Governorship to a DUMBocrat and allow them to put Liberal Activist Judges all across Michigan.

FURTHER... Folks on our side have to stop being so lazy. Our JOB is NOT done after Election day. It is up to us to put even a RINO into the Governorship and then LAY HEAVY on our HOUSE/SENATE MEMBERS to pass only appropriate Legislation which the Governor then can only SIGN OR VETO!!!

If you are in a heavy RED part of the State - you cannot take your vote for granted! You must get out and vote for all the GOP Candidates on the Michigan ticket to overcome the heavy DUMBocrat votes out of Wayne County, Flint, Saginaw, Pontiac, etc.... You cannot just SIT OUT because your State House and State Senate Candidates are a Shoe-in... You may jeopardize/sacrifice Governorship, Secretary of State, Attorney General, and US Senator, seats if you stay home or skip any of those races!

We must have votes for all:
Your local House/Senate Candidate!
Your Congressional District GOP Candidate
Governor: Snyder
SOS: Johnson
AG: Schuette
USSenate: Land
Supreme Court: Zahra, Viviano, & Redford (all 3)

Why Michigan Voters MUST vote for Terri Lynn Land for US Senate

Fellow Conservatives and TEAParty friends:
This is gonna be short and sweet....
Terri Lynn Land MUST be sent to DC in order to give the GOP as big a margin as possible in the US Senate. I understand many don't think she is a very good Candidate, but she is going to be leaps and bounds better than Gary Peters. Also, we need as big a GOP margin of seats lead in the US Senate from the 2014 Election because the forecasts (because of who/where/what seats are up) for 2016 means we may lose a few seats. Therefore we MUST have as great a margin now.
We cannot only look at the short-term. We must have a long-term strategy. You cannot just vote in 2014 and go back to sleep. This is a NEVER ENDING PROCESS. The strategy:
1) Elect ANY/ALL REPUBLICANS:
to get GOP Super-Majorities in House/Senate (States and Federal levels)
2) REPLACE as many RINOs as possible while adding to our majorities.
3) REPLACE even more RINOs
etc...
We MUST, over the next decade, get the GOP to a 60+ Majority in the US Senate for/because:
* Judicial nominees hearings/approvals
* Treaty approval
* Super-Majority so-as to ensure a CONSERVATIVE POTUS' agenda cannot be blocked by DUMBocrats through Filibuster tactics/techniques.
* etc... (see comments section for more)
If you are in a heavy RED part of the State - you cannot take your vote for granted!

The case to vote for Terri Lynn Land is more than just opposing the Democrats
Terri Lynn Land is running to put Michigan front and center on the world stage once again by standing up for each & every one of us, our beliefs and our concerns in D.C.  Putting Michigan First is more than a campaign slogan, it is her belief system.  When the EPA enforces regulations that makes our energy bills higher, Terri will stand in their way and proposes to defund.  When the Steyer global warming crew opposes energy delivery via the pipeline, Terri supports Keystone XL for you and your wallet, not Steyer.  When Obamacare cuts Medicare, cuts your Dr., your health insurance plan and cuts your choice, Terri says free market is the way so repeal the Obamacare beast.  Our roads need help so Terri proposes pulling back our dollars from the federal level and let us (Michigan) best decide how to handle this problem the Michigan way.  Establishing loans for skills training to better train Michigan's work force, standing for both equal pay AND flexibility for women in the workforce, Terri stands for you thus, Terri Lynn Land stands for Liberty & our Constitution!  This is what we need in D.C.

Why you cannot sit out this election cuz you're in a Heavy Red or Heavy Blue district/county

And for those in Michigan still not "certain" you can vote for Snyder: Folks on our side have to stop being so lazy. Our JOB is NOT done after Election day. What is certain is that Conservatives should NOT provide Snyder (or, IMO, even Land) one dime nor one minute of their volunteer time. Conservatives need to spend their time and money working for Conservatives across Michigan like Cindy Gamrat, Gary Glenn, Todd Courser, Pat Colbeck, Pat Sommerville, and others – to get them into the Michigan House and Senate!!!! Let the RINOs get some fellow RINOs off their asses to work the Phone Banks and do the Door-to-door work that Conservatives have always done for the Party. Take our Voice/Vote for granted, then you don’t get the benefit of our Labor!!!

Comment by Joseph M Lenard (JLenardDetroit) on August 28, 2014 at 3:29pm

It was nice that Snyder and Calley went to Nakagiri’s after Convention Party, but absent was ANY reference to working to earning Conservative Votes and the Party Platform. I confronted Bobby Shostack regarding Gas Tax and he stammered and stuttered – it is clear Snyder plans on continuing to act like a DUMBocrat and push for a Gas Tax rather than CUT OTHER SPENDING to fund additional Road repairs! Perhaps all Conservatives need to tell the Party (and Snyder) when they call to man the Phone Banks to get their RINO buddies to finally do some work cuz Conservatives are gonna take the Election work cycle OFF.
