The Real Goal of the Green Climate Crusade

I went to last night's University of Michigan "Green Climate" lecture by Keith Lockitch. It was a well researched lecture and had much original thinking by the speaker.

It was mentioned that Africa has 1.5 Billion people without electricity and the average life expectancy there is less than 40 years. The point being that in this highly polluted industrialized nation of ours, we still live about twice that long. Do you want to go back to a less industrialized nation? It was also emphasized that if we leave the control of things to the free market system, things will work themselves out and we will be much much less in debt and will still have our freedom and will not be a socialized society. WHO NEEDS THAT?

Ayn Rand recommended individual rights as opposed to a collective (socialized) society. So do I.

Hi Rondal,

I was there too. I'm sorry I didn't see you. I have to admire to speaker for going into the "belly of the beast". His presentation was full of facts. But, speaking to a group of nursing kids that have probably never worked a day in their lives about money was a daunting task.

He seemed to be off his game when the Q&A started. I liked the example of the candle maker.

The young lady that took the mic wasn't going to have her mind changed.

At the end of the night, I don't think he convinced any of the tree-huggers to think differently. It is good to know that there are young people that will at least sit and listen quietly to opposing views.

Thanks Sharon for your comments. I had begun to believe that no one read anything on our "ning" site.

Thanks for sharing this Rondal. So many options last night on where to go. I think Tom went to this event as well. I heard a commentator on CNN is saying Cap and Trade is dead. I'm not so sure. While it is a joke to bring up "Global Warming" while much of our nation is in a deep freeze - once spring rolls around I'm afraid it will bring Cap and Trade back to full bloom as well. We will see. The more educated we become the more we are able to share the truth and fight the agenda if need be.
